Arnotts, the prestigious department store in Central Dublin owned by Selfridges, hosted Pall Mall Barbers at a pop-up last month, from 20th February to 5th March.
The pop-up was part of an initiative by the Department of International Trade, with 30 London companies and brands showcasing their wares at Arnotts in Dublin. The 500 square foot pop-up space was called ‘The London Collective’.
British Ambassador, Robin Barnett CMG commented: “We at the British Embassy in Dublin are delighted to be working with a prestigious store like Arnotts on this excellent initiative. It is part of our active campaign to develop even further the dynamic trading partnership between the UK and Ireland. The pop-up shop gives a range of London brands, many of which are new to exporting, the opportunity to showcase their unique and exciting products to both Irish shoppers and to key members of the Irish retail community. Ireland rightly remains the first choice for many UK companies beginning their export journey. I am sure that Arnotts’ customers will be excited by the many great products on offer”
Aside from the pop-up space, a special Meet the Buyer event was hosted at the British Embassy by Ambassador Robin Barnett CMG. Buyers from many Irish stores and retailers, distributors and press and social media influencers were all invited to attend the event at the British Embassy to learn about the brands on show as well as ‘The London Collective’ project at Arnotts.
Donald McDonald, Arnotts Managing Director said: “We are delighted to welcome ‘The Contemporary Collective – London Edition’ to Arnotts this February and March, as the first of further collectives from different cities around the world. We always like to inspire our customer with new and exciting brands and we believe that this collective will certainly complement the other Irish and international brands that we offer.”
Parveen Thornhill, Regional Director for the Department for International Trade London Region said “It’s great that we are supporting and sending so many first time, London-based exporters to sell their products to Irish consumers at the Arnotts Department Store. From companies producing artisan chocolates to eco foldaway bags, many have not exported before. By demonstrating the demand for their products in markets outside of the UK we hope to help spur them on to reap the huge benefits of exporting, starting with their own sales websites”.
