Douglas
Barbers Paddington – Douglas, our Brazilian-born barber from Minas is an inspiring entrepreneur and master barber. Coming from a family of hairdressers, Douglas inherited the same passion, enthusiasm and hard-working nature from the get-go. Douglas’s story is one of hard work, determination and entrepreneurship. He started cutting hair at 14 years old and just two years later, owned his own barbershop after working with an uncle who owned a successful business in Brazil; one year later he left for London to pursue big dreams of starting his own international business.
A pro when it comes to long scissor cuts. Douglas is highly talented and professionally trained in this skill and technique and an expert on skin fades. His favourite style? The tapered fade with texture on top and a messy look! If you’re looking for an easy-going barber with lots of enthusiasm and energy who will make you feel like a star, he is the man. With his people skills and ability as both manager/owner of a successful business; there’s no challenge too difficult for him. With experience in leading a team of 14 hair stylists, he took a management course and became a master in relationship building. Douglas knows how important relationships are in this business so much so that one client turned into a regular customer after they refused his first offer.
Douglas’s family is the root of his inspiration. With 14 cousins and aunties in the same profession, he always feels motivated and able to learn from them all. In particular his uncle, a successful businessman who mentored Douglas from the very beginning and has gained invaluable experience in learning how to lead in business. When he isn’t working, you’ll find him relaxing at home with friends playing games or hanging out by the park. His favourite pastime is spending time travelling to London’s historical monuments and attractions as well as soaking up authentic Brazilian food from Touro Steakhouse in London.
Douglas is a passionate person who loves music, especially from the late 80s to the modern day. His favourite artists are Michael Jackson and Brazilian tech-house artist Matuê! One of his hidden talents that not many know about is that he’s a really strong swimmer. Growing up by the riverside in Brazil he trained 3 or 4 times per week. His most memorable place while abroad so far has been Lisbon Portugal and highly recommends everyone to try their delicious Portuguese rolls called “Bread of God” (also known as pão de deus).
